Repair before replacing

Bring Worn Concrete Back to Life

Concrete does not always need to be removed simply because it looks old, stained or dated. Where the existing slab remains suitable, resurfacing can update its colour and finish with less demolition and disruption than complete replacement.

Glenn assesses the slab, previous coatings, cracks, contamination and intended use before recommending a system. If resurfacing is not suitable, he will tell you.

A careful foundation

Our Concrete Resurfacing Process

A lasting finish begins well before the colour goes down. Glenn follows a careful seven-stage process, adjusted to the condition, access and intended use of your concrete.

Seven-step concrete resurfacing process: onsite assessment, crack repairs and levelling, preparation and cleaning, priming, base coat, texture coats and two coats of Dulux Avista clear sealer.
Glenn Monckton Concrete Revival’s seven-step resurfacing process
STEP 1

On-Site Assessment

Glenn checks the slab, movement, drainage, contamination, previous coatings and intended use.

STEP 2

Crack Repairs and Levelling

Suitable cracks, chips and uneven areas are repaired or corrected before decorative work begins.

STEP 3

Surface Preparation and Cleaning

Pressure cleaning, grinding or coating removal creates a clean, sound surface for proper adhesion.

STEP 4

Prime the Surface

The prepared concrete is primed with the compatible system required for the selected finish.

STEP 5

Apply the Base Coat

A Dulux Avista resurfacing compound is applied in the agreed base colour.

STEP 6

Apply Texture Coats

One or two texture coats are sprayed in the selected colour, with an optional stencil pattern where suitable.

STEP 7

Apply Two Clear Sealer Coats

Two coats of Dulux Avista clear sealer complete and protect the finish. Glenn then provides project-specific curing instructions.

Honest recommendations

Resurfacing or Replacement?

Resurfacing can be a practical option where the existing slab is stable and suitable. Replacement may make more sense where there is significant movement, major deterioration or another condition that a surface treatment cannot resolve.

No one-size-fits-all sales pitch: Glenn’s recommendation is based on the concrete at your property and the result you want to achieve.

Common questions

Concrete Resurfacing FAQs

Is resurfacing cheaper than replacing concrete?

It can be more cost-effective and less disruptive where the existing slab is suitable. Cost depends on its condition, preparation, access, repairs, size and selected finish.

Can cracked concrete be resurfaced?

Suitable cracks can be repaired first. However, cracks caused by continuing movement in the ground or slab may become visible again.

Can I choose the colour?

Yes. Glenn can discuss available Dulux Avista colours and practical considerations for your home, surrounding finishes and intended use.

When can the area be used?

Timing varies with the product and weather. Light foot traffic may often resume after approximately 24 hours. Driveways commonly require about five full days before vehicle traffic. Follow the instructions for your project.

Which areas do you service?

Glenn services the Northern Beaches from Manly to Palm Beach, inland Northern Beaches suburbs and selected Lower North Shore projects.
