Diagnose before covering
Start With the Cause, Not Just the Damage
Cracks and deterioration can have different causes, including shrinkage, age, settlement, ground movement, moisture, corrosion, tree roots or failure of an earlier coating.
The appropriate repair depends on whether the problem is stable, likely to move again or requires further investigation.

Different symptoms, different responses
Repair and Preparation Services
Concrete Crack Repair
Suitable cracks can be cleaned, prepared and treated with a compatible repair system. A movement-related crack may still reappear.
Spalling Assessment
Loose concrete, rust staining and exposed reinforcement should be assessed rather than simply coated over.
Grinding & Coating Removal
Diamond grinding may help remove some failed coatings, contamination or high areas and expose a sound surface.
Surface Damage
Chips, local deterioration and failed patches can be inspected to determine whether targeted repair is practical.
Resurfacing Preparation
Unstable or loose material needs suitable treatment before a decorative finish should be considered.
Honest Referral Advice
If a problem needs an engineer, remedial builder or another specialist, Glenn can explain that before inappropriate surface work proceeds.
Know what to look for
Spalling and “Concrete Cancer”
Spalling can appear as cracking, hollow areas, rust staining or pieces of concrete breaking away. One possible cause is corrosion of reinforcing steel, which expands and places pressure on the surrounding concrete.

Concrete Repair FAQs
Can every crack be permanently repaired?
No. A crack associated with ongoing movement in the slab or ground can reappear. Glenn will explain what can realistically be achieved.
What is concrete cancer?
It is a common term for concrete deterioration often associated with corrosion of internal reinforcing steel. Proper assessment is important because the visible damage may not show the full extent.
Can you resurface directly over damaged concrete?
Not necessarily. Loose, unstable or contaminated material needs to be addressed appropriately before a decorative finish is considered.
Do you repair cracks before resurfacing?
Suitable cracks can be treated during preparation. Glenn currently uses professional repair systems such as the Dulux Avista Concrete Crack Repair Kit where appropriate.
Do you work with strata managers?
Yes, for suitable concrete repair and restoration work. Complex structural or building remediation may require other licensed specialists.
